Introduction
Welcome to Level 1: Advanced Linux System Programming. This course is meant for those who have some basic knowledge of C, Linux and wish to transition into the realm of professional system programming. This course is intended to be taken by programmers who are familiar with basic IPC and threads. It is geared to teach you the subtleties of the user/kernel interface. You will go beyond the basics of execution to learn about high-performance, event-driven designs using epoll, complex memory management with mmap and concurrency designs.
Abstract
This program connects entry-level system call knowledge to real world, high performance, low latency system engineering. The trainees will become proficient in building event-driven systems using `epoll`, zero copy memory using `mmap`, reentrant signals, and inter-process communication that doesn't use socket communication overheads. By creating high throughput systems for data processing, trainees will learn skills needed for designing scalable and resilient infrastructure.
