7.link-local address in IPv6 different from a global unicast

In the representation of the link-local address, we have a fe80::/10 network prefix, followed by an all zero 54 bit network id, and end with a 64 bit interface id. Hence they are often represented as : fe80::/64, whereas global unicast address are represented with prefix 2000::/3.

Link-local addresses in IPv6 are used for communication between devices on the same local network segment and are not routable on the wider internet. These addresses begin with the fe80::/10 prefix and are automatically assigned to interfaces. Global unicast addresses, on the other hand, are publicly routable and typically start with a 2xxx:: prefix. These are used for general internet communication.
